Cousin Simple // Skully’s Music Diner – Columbus, OH

Local Ohio band, Cousin Simple took the stage at Skully’s Music Diner on Friday, January 11th. These five guys are all Ohio natives and range from 16-20 years old. Their sound is familiar but unique. Imagine Green Day, PANIC! At the Disco, Cage the Elephant and The Rolling Stones had a stupidly talented child; that child would be Cousin Simple.

Don’t let the age of these musicians deter you, they know how to put on one hell of a show and have talent to spare. Energy oozed off the stage and poured into the packed house. The freezing temperatures outside were no match for the incendiary force that was occurring on stage. Cousin Simple will not be a small local band for much longer, these guys are going places and probably very soon. Check out their song “Strangers“. Not only has it been in my head since their set, but I’ve gotten it stuck in about half a dozen friend’s heads as well. Whatever “it” is, Cousin Simple has it.

Love the photos, especially #84 the back flip photo! I think you are accurate on the band influences. Their lead singer looks like one of Jim Morrison’s album covers but moves like Mick Jagger.
