Nelsonville Music Festival returns with Yo La Tengo, Japanese Breakfast, and more

till looking to fill your Labor Day Weekend with music, fun, and excitement?

After a two year hiatus, Nelsonville Music Festival makes it’s long anticipated return to southeastern Ohio with both a new festival location and a new festival weekend. From it’s new site at the Snow Fork Event Center, NMF will host over 30 musical artists from Friday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 4th. Additionally, NMF will have on site 27 artisan & retail vendors, plenty of reasonably priced local and regional food vendors, onsite primitive and RV camping, and many opportunities to make memories with both family and friends.

 

This year’s headliners include Japanese Breakfast, Angel Olsen, Yo La Tengo, and Lucinda Williams. Other featured performances by Neko Case, Mdou Moctar, Town Mountain, and the legendary Michael Hurley are also on the schedule.

Additional acts include an eclectic mix of indie, alternative, world-music, Americana and roots, country, folk, and rock & roll.

Founded in 2005, the Nelsonville Music Festival was an annual event put on by Stuart’s Opera House until COVID-19 caused the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 events. Acting as the principal fundraiser for the preservation and upkeep of the historic building in the heart of Nelsonville – a non-profit theater venue first opened in 1879 which continues to be used to this day for musical events, films, educational programs, and other events.
